These were Aluminum Air cleaner assemblies made to accommodate two carburetors. The 1967 GT500 Air Cleaner Note the "COBRA" lettering. The "O" is wider than it is tall & the "R" has a curved foot Bottom side of lid has casting circles marks. There is a rectangular casting impression around the Cobra lettering of an original air cleaner. No Casting numbers are on the lids. I have seen REPO Lids with the "O" equal width & height & the "R" foot straight BUT, I have also seen REPO lids with the lettering as Original but showing a sand cast finish on underside. The 1967 GT500 Base has a rip bottom and a PCV elbow. Most Repo bases don't even have a PCV elbow or provisions for a PCV hookup. Base has casting numbers "S7MS 9600 B" - And the PCV Elbow is an integrated part of base. This is an Example of a REPRODUCTION Air Cleaner - Note the equal width & Height, letter "O" & Straight Foot on letter "R". 1967 GT500 - Non Smog & Smog Versions 1968 GT350 and GT500 had Single Carburetors These have "Black Crinkle" Finish The 1968 Lids had plugs placed where two carbs would have been used and a hole placed in center for the Wing nut. Note: the "COBRA" lettering.
The Base was a stamped metal base with "FRONT" stamped into it and a PCV provisions on the back side. Some other Original 1968 Air Cleaner Assemblies I have seen. Close up of the casting marks & the COBRA lettering. 1968 GT350 & GT500 with Air Cleaner in place.
